Awards season is officially here, and the first major shots have been fired! The nominations for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive race. In a year packed with cinematic heavy-hitters and TV titans, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has unveiled a list full of expected favorites, delightful surprises, and the beginning of what promises to be an epic campaign trail.
The big story? Paul Thomas Anderson’s laugh-laden political thriller, One Battle After Another, emerged as the undeniable frontrunner, dominating the field with a staggering nine nominations. Hot on its heels is the poignant drama Sentimental Value from director Joachim Trier, which secured an impressive eight nods, proving that emotional resonance is hitting just as hard as sharp satire this season.
On the television side, the luxurious—and deadly—resort of HBO’s The White Lotus once again proved irresistible to voters, leading all series with six nominations. It just edged out the gripping Netflix limited series Adolescence, which scored five, setting up a juicy showdown in the limited series categories.
The announcements, presented by Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall on CBS Mornings, also highlighted the Globes’ ongoing evolution under Jay Penske and Dick Clark Productions. Despite past controversies, the ceremony is leaning into its refreshed brand with initiatives like “Golden Week,” culminating in the “Golden Eve” special honoring this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient, Helen Mirren, and Carol Burnett Award honoree, Sarah Jessica Parker. In a nod to modern media, the HFPA also introduced a brand new category: Best Podcast.
Notable surprises included a double-dose of love for heartthrob Jacob Elordi, who scored nods for both his supporting role in Frankenstein and his lead turn in the limited series The Narrow Road to the Deep North. Another stunning moment was the recognition for Eva Victor, nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for her directorial debut, Sorry, Baby.
The 81st Golden Globe Awards will return to the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11, 2026, airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.
Without further ado, here is the complete list of nominees for the 2026 Golden Globes.
