Hold onto your witch hats, folks! The cast and creators of Disney+’s Agatha All Along are serving up more than just spells and sorcery—they’re delivering a groundbreaking celebration of LGBTQ representation. And by the sounds of it, we’re in for a rainbow-filled ride!

At Monday’s premiere, Sasheer Zamata, who portrays the spell-slinging Jennifer Kale, didn’t hold back when asked about Agatha being hailed as “the gayest project Marvel has ever done.”

“I’d agree with that,” Zamata confirmed with a knowing smile. “You’ll see when you watch. Witches are queer, inherently, just because we’re outcasts and set aside for many reasons. This show offers a beautiful representation of different types of people, showing that we can all tap into our power and thrive.” (Talk about witch goals!)

Then there’s Joe Locke, playing Teen, who adds some magical layers to the LGBTQ narrative. “This show has many layers—and yes, one of them is gay!” Locke said with a chuckle. “Teen is a queer guy, but that’s not the main focus, which I think is great. It’s so refreshing to just see positive queer characters living their lives without it needing to be the central theme.”

Now, let’s talk about Kathryn Hahn—our fabulous witch in chief, Agatha Harkness. Hahn was absolutely buzzing about the way Agatha treats LGBTQ identities. “What’s the most exciting thing about it is that’s not exactly what it’s about. It’s so normalized.” In other words, magic isn’t the only thing woven into the fabric of the show—queerness is too, and it’s no big deal. Love that.

And how can we forget about the one and only Aubrey Plaza, queen of the deadpan and known heartbreaker of all genders? Plaza, who plays Rio Vidal, kept details under wraps but teased what we can expect. “It’s going to be a gay explosion by the end of it,” she declared with a wink. (We’re counting down the days for that one!)

Oh, and did we mention that the legendary Patti LuPone is in the mix? Playing the mysterious Lila Calderu, she’s bringing some musical magic to the show, and if you’re wondering how that’ll crank up the queer factor—Ali Ahn, who plays Alice Wu-Gulliver, has the answer. “It’s the gayest show on Marvel,” Ahn stated proudly. “There’s pageantry, singing, and well, we’re singing with Patti LuPone. Need I say more?”

So, buckle up for a ride through Agatha All Along, where witches aren’t just powerful—they’re wonderfully, unapologetically queer. As Zamata said, “We’re all tapping into the power we have within to move forward and be great.” Sounds like a spellbinding journey we’re all ready for!
