Noah Hawley is cementing his position as one of television’s most sought-after creators. The visionary behind FX’s breakout hit “Alien: Earth” has secured a lucrative new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, accompanied by a highly anticipated second season renewal for the critically acclaimed sci-fi series.

A Nine-Figure Vote of Confidence

According to Deadline, Hawley’s new overall deal is valued in the nine-figures—a testament to his track record of delivering premium, award-winning content. The agreement extends the Emmy-winning creator’s partnership with FX, which began over a decade ago with the launch of “Fargo” in 2014.

“It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future,” said FX Chairman John Landgraf. “Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories—and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary.”

‘Alien: Earth’ Heads to London for Season 2

Production on the second season will mark a significant shift for the series, relocating from Thailand to London. Filming is scheduled to begin next year, bringing the franchise’s signature blend of sci-fi horror and thought-provoking storytelling to new international locations.

The first season of “Alien: Earth” successfully adapted Ridley Scott’s iconic film franchise for television, earning widespread critical acclaim with a 94% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive Metacritic Must-Watch score of 85. The series was developed with strong support from Scott Free and its president, David W. Zucker, who serves as an executive producer.

Star-Studded Ensemble Returns

Season one featured Sydney Chandler leading an expansive ensemble cast that included Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El. While casting details for season two haven’t been announced, the show’s critical and commercial success suggests many familiar faces will return.

Behind the camera, Hawley created the series for television and serves as executive producer alongside Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Macer, John Campisi, and Simon Emanuel. The series is produced by FX Productions.

A Decade of Excellence at FX

Hawley’s relationship with FX has been nothing short of remarkable. Since “Fargo” premiered in 2014, the anthology series has garnered seven Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Miniseries, along with 70 Emmy nominations total. The show has also collected three Golden Globe Awards, including Best Miniseries, two AFI Awards, and a Peabody Award. Across its multiple seasons, “Fargo” has maintained an average Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 93% and a Metacritic score of 84.

His other FX creation, the mind-bending Marvel series “Legion,” ran for three seasons and averaged an impressive 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, further demonstrating Hawley’s versatility and creative range.

Expanding Horizons Across Disney Entertainment

The new deal doesn’t just solidify Hawley’s future with FX—it opens doors across the entire Disney Entertainment Television portfolio. Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership.

“I learned first-hand that Noah was a unique talent while we worked on Fargo at FX,” Schrier said. “He has gone on to make many of the best shows in television, and I couldn’t be more excited that Noah will continue his FX partnership and broaden it across Disney Entertainment Television.”

The Creator’s Vision

Hawley himself expressed gratitude for the continued partnership and the creative freedom FX has afforded him throughout his career.

“I’m thrilled that this expanded deal opens the door to new opportunities across all of Disney Entertainment Television,” said Hawley. “FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the very beginning with Fargo, they’ve encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter.”

As television continues evolving in an increasingly competitive streaming landscape, major deals like Hawley’s signal that networks still recognize the value of proven creative talent. With “Alien: Earth” Season 2 on the horizon and additional projects in advanced development, Noah Hawley’s influence on prestige television shows no signs of slowing down.
