The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards celebrated a jam-packed year in television from June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025. This year’s Emmys race proved to be one of the most unpredictable competitions in years. In the drama categories, HBO Max’s new hit medical show, The Pitt, went up against returning heavy-hitters like Apple TV’s Severance and HBO’s The White Lotus. Meanwhile, on the side of comedy, new fan-favorites like Apple TV’s The Studio and Netflix’s Nobody Wants This looked to disrupt the previous winning streaks of Hacks and The Bear.
In limited series, Netflix’s Adolescence and HBO’s The Penguin were the two top contenders. Adolescence ultimately swept its categories, while The Studio set a new record for most awarded comedy series in a single season. The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards aired live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 14, 2025, on CBS and Paramount+.
