Bethesda Softworks celebrated Fallout Day 2025 with a packed 30-minute livestream that delivered exactly what post-apocalyptic fans wanted: substantive updates across the entire franchise. From anniversary bundles honoring Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas to major expansions for Fallout 76 and confirmation of the series’ Nintendo Switch 2 debut, the presentation proved the Wasteland still has plenty of life left in it.
With Fallout Season 2 approaching its December 17 premiere on Prime Video and the franchise riding high on renewed mainstream popularity, Bethesda had ample reason to celebrate—and plenty of news to share.
Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition Brings the Complete Experience (Plus Switch 2!)
Ten years after its release, Fallout 4 is getting the anniversary treatment it deserves. Studio and production director Angela Browder unveiled Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, an all-inclusive bundle launching November 10, 2025.
The package includes all six DLC expansions—Nuka-World, Far Harbor, Automatron, Vault-Tec Workshop, Contraptions Workshop, and Wasteland Workshop—bundled with over 150 pieces of Creation Club content, including some previously unreleased items.
“In addition to the add-ons, the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition also includes over 150 pieces of Creation Club content, including some previously unreleased items to supplement your adventures,” said associate art director Daniel Lee. “And now, with this anniversary, we’re taking your experience to the next level because Creations are coming to Fallout 4. That means you’ll see even more new content coming to the Commonwealth.”
The Creations integration promises ongoing community-made content for the Commonwealth, extending the game’s lifespan well beyond its tenth birthday. While specific platforms for the Anniversary Edition remain unclear, Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 4 will make its Nintendo Switch 2 debut in 2026—potentially the Anniversary Edition, though that wasn’t explicitly stated.
Fallout: New Vegas Gets Its 15th Anniversary Moment
While actor and Fallout alum Danny Trejo didn’t get his wish for a full Fallout: New Vegas remaster, Bethesda and original developer Obsidian Entertainment celebrated the beloved spinoff’s 15th anniversary with a special bundle.
The Fallout: New Vegas 15th Anniversary Bundle includes a Collector’s Big Box containing:
- The PC version of the Ultimate Edition
- A Vault Boy pin
- Evaluation Cards
- Mojave Express and NCR Recon patches
- A Victor Statue centerpiece
The bundle is available for pre-order now via the Bethesda Gear Store, giving fans a physical way to celebrate one of the franchise’s most beloved entries.
Speaking of merchandise, the livestream teased upcoming Fallout gear including a Vault-Tec hat, themed lunchboxes, a Dog Meat plush toy, a Vault Boy Halloween basket, bobbleheads, and more—all modeled by an adorable live-action Dog Meat during the presentation.
Fallout 76 Expands to Ohio with Burning Springs
Fallout 76 players have a new destination: the desert wasteland of Ohio. The Burning Springs update introduces a fresh region featuring a king Super Mutant looking to control the land, complete with new fish species, public events, mutant pigs, and an entirely new aesthetic for the franchise.
In an exciting crossover with the TV series, Walton Goggins’ character The Ghoul is coming to Burning Springs. The actor appeared during the stream to tease his role, confirming that players can find his bounties in Highway Town.
Fallout: New Vegas fans also received special attention with the addition of iconic Ranger Armor and the Mojave’s familiar green motel dinosaur to Fallout 76. All of this new content is “coming soon,” though Bethesda clarified that native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions won’t arrive until 2026.
Fallout Shelter’s Biggest Update Ever
After accumulating over 230 million downloads since its 2015 launch, Fallout Shelter is receiving what Bethesda calls its biggest update ever: Seasons.
The seasonal content system will feature:
- Unique themes for each season
- Time-limited challenges
- Exclusive items and rewards
- Battle passes
Footage from the stream showcased content from multiple upcoming seasons, each sporting distinct visual identities and gameplay hooks. No specific release date was announced, but the update promises to reinvigorate the mobile vault management game.
Fallout Invades the Real World
Community manager Danielle Bartholomew highlighted several real-world Fallout experiences currently available or coming soon:
Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights (Ongoing): Both Hollywood and Florida locations feature Fallout-themed haunted houses and activities.
Texas Stars Fallout Night (Austin): The second annual hockey event celebrates the franchise with special activities.
Pioneer Saloon Festival (Nevada): The fourth annual event features a cooking competition, car show, and film festival.
The World of Fallout Exhibit (Las Vegas Atomic Museum): Opening in November, this partnership with Bethesda showcases artifacts from the game’s universe.
These real-world activations demonstrate how the franchise has expanded beyond gaming into broader cultural spaces, particularly following the success of the Prime Video series.
Todd Howard Teases the Future (Without Saying Much)
No Fallout Day would be complete without studio head and creative director Todd Howard. While his appearance was brief, Howard assured fans that Bethesda is “hard at work on all the things that fans want,” though specifics will have to wait for future announcements.
The implication is clear: Fallout 5 is in development, but given Bethesda’s current focus on The Elder Scrolls VI (which itself won’t arrive for years), fans shouldn’t expect the next mainline Fallout entry anytime soon. The Anniversary Edition, Burning Springs expansion, and continued support for existing games are meant to sustain the community in the interim.
Star-Studded Cameos and Season 2 Hype
The stream concluded with a parade of surprise celebrity cameos wishing fans a happy Fallout Day. Voice actor Wes Johnson, legendary director John Carpenter, and much of the Fallout TV series cast appeared to build hype for Season 2, which premieres December 17, 2025 on Prime Video.
The enthusiasm from the show’s cast—who’ve become passionate advocates for the franchise—underscores how successfully the television adaptation has introduced Fallout to mainstream audiences. The synergy between the games and the show continues driving interest in both directions.
Fallout for Hope Raises Money for St. Jude
Following the main presentation, the Fallout for Hope charity livestream continued with a variety show benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The goal: reach $1 million in donations for 2025. If achieved by day’s end, all Fallout 76 players will receive the “Hopeful” Player Title as a thank-you gift.
The charity component adds heart to the celebration, leveraging the franchise’s massive fanbase for a worthy cause while rewarding community generosity.
The State of the Franchise
Fallout Day 2025 painted a picture of a franchise firing on all cylinders. The television series has driven renewed interest in the games, leading to substantial player increases across Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and even older entries. Bethesda is capitalizing on this momentum by supporting existing games with meaningful content while preparing the franchise for new platforms like Switch 2.
While the lack of a Fallout 5 announcement or New Vegas remaster may disappoint some fans, the breadth of content revealed—from anniversary editions to new expansions to real-world experiences—demonstrates Bethesda’s commitment to keeping the Wasteland vibrant and welcoming for both longtime vault dwellers and newcomers drawn in by the show.
The next few months look particularly exciting: Fallout Season 2 arrives December 17, the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition launches November 10, and the Burning Springs expansion continues expanding Fallout 76‘s world. For a franchise that began in 1997, the post-apocalyptic future has never looked brighter.
War. War never changes. But the Fallout franchise? It keeps evolving in ways that honor its past while building toward an increasingly exciting future.
