This delightful third installment arrives seven years after “Paddington 2” and is set to charm U.S. audiences on January 17, 2025. Lucky fans in the United Kingdom can catch it a bit earlier, on November 8, 2024.

The plot? Paddington journeys back to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears. But, with the Brown family by his side, an exciting mystery propels them into a grand adventure through the lush Amazon rainforest and up the majestic mountain peaks of Peru.

Unveiled at a special event in London (with marmalade sandwiches, of course), the trailer shows Paddington—voiced by the ever-charming Ben Whishaw—traveling to his birthplace with his adoptive London family. They encounter a host of new friends, including Olivia Colman as a guitar-strumming nun who leads the retired bears, and Antonio Banderas as a dashing boat captain. Hugh Bonneville, who introduced the trailer from the set of “Downton Abbey 3,” reprises his role as Mr. Brown, while Emily Mortimer steps in as Mrs. Brown. Julie Walters returns as Mrs. Bird, and Imelda Staunton voices Aunt Lucy once more.

Director Dougal Wilson, speaking at the trailer launch, shared his thoughts: “The first film introduced us to Paddington and his new home in London. The second film almost saw him lose that home, but instead, he strengthened his London community and revealed more about his origins. For this third film, it felt right to take him back to Peru, bringing his London friends along for an adventure and filling in the gaps of his story.”

Produced by David Heyman and Rosie Alison, with a team of executive producers including Paul King, Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern, Dan MacRae, Tim Wellspring, Jeffrey Clifford, and Naoya Kinoshita, “Paddington in Peru” promises to be a delightful continuation of the beloved series.

The first two films, both directed by Paul King (who later helmed “Wonka”), have collectively grossed over $500 million worldwide. Get ready for another charming escapade with Britain’s favorite bear!
