Get ready to check under your beds again, because the blood-soaked bride is officially back. Samara Weaving is reprising her iconic role as Grace for the eagerly anticipated sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, set to hit theaters on April 10, 2026. This sequel promises to be even more “unhinged” than the 2019 horror-comedy breakout, expanding the world of deadly family games with a star-studded new ensemble.
The Return of Grace and Radio Silence
The creative engine behind the original film, the directing duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin—collectively known as Radio Silence and famous for their work on the recent Scream reboots—are back at the helm. They are directing from a screenplay by original writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
In an exclusive first look provided by People Magazine, we see that the sequel catches up with Grace right after the events of her killer wedding night. The creative team shared that returning to Grace’s world was a deeply emotional experience. “We never dreamed Ready or Not would connect with people the way it has over the past few years and feel so honored to get to step back into Grace’s world,” the directors stated, adding that seeing Weaving back in the iconic, tattered wedding dress “felt really special to us.”
Weaving herself echoed the emotional reunion, admitting she felt nervous but found the character of Grace instantly flooding back once she put the dress on. “We were all quite emotional in that fitting, actually,” she shared. “Revisiting the character is one thing but working with that crew again was the best part.”
A Stacked Ensemble for a New Game
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is significantly upping the ante with its cast, bringing in some major genre veterans and rising stars. Joining Weaving are Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, Sean Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, and the legendary director-actor David Cronenberg.
The directors couldn’t contain their excitement about the new faces, stating they think everyone “brought something genuinely special to their roles, and we’re so thrilled with how scary, funny and bizarre this cast of characters are.”
A particularly exciting addition is Kathryn Newton, who reunites with the Radio Silence directors after their 2024 vampire film Abigail. Newton, who recently starred in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, revealed that her character was written specifically with her in mind and jokes that she “causes some problems—but the fun kind, I promise.”
Newton also praised her co-star Weaving, saying she was welcomed to the franchise “with so much support and excitement.” She happily declared, “Scream queens unite!” The early images strongly suggest that Newton’s character, potentially Grace’s sister, will be dragged into another twisted game of hide and seek, possibly literally chained to Grace at the wrist.
A Natural and “Unhinged” Progression
The big question for fans is how a sequel can logically continue the perfect, explosive ending of the first film. Radio Silence teased that Ready or Not 2 “goes hand in hand with the first in an unexpected yet seamless way.”
A writer on the sequel, Guy Busick, previously teased that the film “picks up the second after the first movie ends” with Grace waking up in the hospital, immediately thrust into a “weirder, bigger game that she doesn’t understand.”
The directors stressed their commitment to making the sequel a worthy follow-up that avoids simple repetition. “It’s exciting to see Grace into a new f—ed-up situation that deepens her story and her character, and we wanted to make sure that this movie wasn’t just more of the same,” they explained. Weaving’s own description is perhaps the most compelling: the sequel is “so unhinged, absolutely cooked—you’re gonna love it.”
With a dream team of talent and a promise of a new, shocking game, fans will only have to wait until Spring 2026 to see Samara Weaving’s Grace fight for her life once more.
