The Fantastic Four: First Steps – First look at The Silver Surfer

by Jake Laycock

The latest trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” has dropped, giving us our first glimpse of Julia Garner’s shimmering Silver Surfer delivering an ominous warning: “Your planet has been marked for death.” This highly anticipated film promises to bring Marvel’s first family to life in a fresh and exciting way when it hits theaters on July 25, 2025.

A Parallel Universe Adventure

What makes this Fantastic Four journey unique is that it takes place in a parallel reality to the Avengers’ world. In their universe, the Fantastic Four are the only superheroes protecting Earth – and now they face their greatest challenge yet.

The trailer reveals an intriguing dual narrative. The arrival of the Silver Surfer signals the approach of Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson. Director Matt Shakman has hinted at the impressive scale of this cosmic entity, comparing filming him to capturing “Mount Rushmore.” This in parallels with a personal journey, amid these universe-threatening events, Reed and Sue discover they’re going to be parents (comic fans will likely have theories about this special child!).

The trailer also offers tantalizing glimpses of each character’s powers in action:

Reed’s incredible stretching abilities

Sue’s protective forcefields

Johnny’s fiery transformations

Ben’s unstoppable strength

As we eagerly await the July 25, 2025 release date, this trailer suggests “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will balance spectacular cosmic adventure with the heart and family dynamics that make these characters so enduring.

What cosmic secrets await? How will Earth’s first family face this planet-devouring threat? The countdown to discovering these answers has officially begun! Watch the latest trailer here:
