Not even a bull-induced brain hemorrhage, broken ribs, or the steady march of middle age can stop Johnny Knoxville and his band of merry masochists. In a move that has sent shockwaves through both the medical community and pop culture enthusiasts alike, Paramount Pictures has confirmed that a brand-new Jackass movie is set for a wide theatrical release on June 26, 2026. The news first broke via a characteristically exuberant Instagram post from Knoxville, which was jointly uploaded by the official Jackass account and Jeff Tremaine’s production company, Gorilla Flicks. While the post was initially vague, referring only to the franchise’s return to cinemas, industry insiders have since confirmed that this is indeed the fifth main installment of the legendary series.

“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer ‘Jackass’ is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!” — Johnny Knoxville

The timing of this announcement comes just four years after the massive success of Jackass Forever, a film that proved there is still a ravenous appetite for the crew’s “stupidly elaborate frat-house hazing stunts.” That film famously featured Knoxville’s near-fatal encounter with an angry bull and Steve-O’s unfortunate incident with a swarm of bumblebees. While Jackass Forever felt like a potential swan song, the upcoming sequel suggests that the aging daredevils are nowhere near finished. As Variety critic Owen Gleiberman famously noted during the last outing, these men are no longer just Jackassing; they are fighting for their right to party with a “juvenile masochistic fervor that lies somewhere between psychotic and religious.”

The Prodigal Son Returns: Bam Margera’s Official Involvement

Perhaps the most significant piece of news surrounding Jackass 5 is the apparent end of the long-standing family feud between the production team and original cast member Bam Margera. Following a public and legal battle that saw Margera booted from the fourth film due to wellness agreement violations, a formal “armistice” has finally been reached. Margera has reportedly signed an agreement to appear in the new film through never-before-seen archival footage. While it is understood that he will not be filming new stunts for this installment, the inclusion of his likeness marks a massive turning point for the franchise and a gesture of reconciliation that fans have been hoping for since 2022.

Knoxville has long maintained a public stance of support for his former co-star, often stating that the “first step” for Margera was focusing on his health and sobriety. With Margera reportedly in a much better place as of early 2026, this archival deal allows the franchise to honor his legacy without the immediate pressure of high-risk stunt work. This archival footage—reportedly scrapped from previous projects—promises to give fans a nostalgic look back at the original CKY crew dynamic while the current cast carries the torch for the new generation of mayhem.

New Blood and Old Injuries

While the full cast list for Jackass 5 remains under wraps, the industry expects the return of the “new blood” introduced in the previous film, including Rachel Wolfson, Zach Holmes, and Sean “Poopies” McInerney. These younger performers provided a necessary physical buffer in the last movie, taking on some of the more bone-shattering impacts while the veterans focused on psychological pranks and endurance tests. However, given Knoxville’s recent comments about being “addicted” to the adrenaline of big stunts, it is unlikely the 54-year-old leader will be sitting entirely on the sidelines.

The franchise’s audience has evolved in a unique way over the last quarter-century. Once a group of immature teenagers watching MTV, the fanbase is now largely comprised of “immature middle-aged people” who find a strange, vicarious joy in watching their idols refuse to grow up. Paramount’s decision to position this as a major summer tentpole—part of an ambitious 15-movie slate for 2026—highlights the enduring financial power of the Jackass brand. It remains the rare series that can bridge the gap between low-brow slapstick and high-budget cinematic spectacle.
